Week 1- MTC Home
Feliz año nuevo!! I hope that everybody has a wonderful new year. To begin my year, I started with the first day of my mission. This means that I have only been a missionary for three days. These couple of days have been ones of blessing and they have provided me a lot of time to learn. I have no idea how people did their at-home MTC experience during COVID-19 for more than a week. That is insane!! It is certainly difficult to wake up at 6:30 when it is pitch black outside, our chickens haven't woken up, and nobody in their right mind is awake.
On another note, I have been having a wonderful time being taught how to be a good missionary. It feels a little bit like the spirit and the gospel is being fed to me by a fire hydrant hose. There have been a lot of goals, discussions, and blessings as I have been taught about how to teach people effectively.
We have had several different devotionals and workshops. I would recommend all to read D. Todd Christofferson and his Wife's Missionary Devotional. It was straight FIRE!! For example, The Book of Mormon cannot be refuted by any science or facts. One strange thing is that people thought Joseph Smith was very wrong at making a 'book' because he talked about a sword made of steel in 600 BC. (See the sword of Laban). A couple of years ago a steel sword was found in the Jerusalem area dated to that same timeline! There have certainly been other blessings and other wonderful comments made. I have been getting to know my companion and my district and I can't wait to meet them all in person in the Proco MTC!
If any of you have ever felt the inclination to go on a mission, and have not yet, I would definitely encourage it! It will be both a light to your life and will help you gain friends, grow your faith, and help you help others. I'm sure that I will have tons more to add once I have been a missionary for more than three days.
Sincerely,
Hermana Brice
