Semana 17- Ta Weno

Just some Spanish slang for you: Ta Weno stands for Está Bueno meaning it's good.

Get ready for another fuego week with tons of cool stories and tons of cool people. We have honestly been seeing a lot of milagros!!

Our bestie Brianna who got baptized on Wednesday made her own church account before she even got baptized. This week she has been so on top of it. For the baptism she brought her daughter, twin, husband, and on Sunday made fresa de tres leche cake for the potluck. There were more than a few tears in the branch as she got baptized and because her husband works a TON she got the Holy Ghost that Wednesday night. So spiritual!! It made me think all about my own baptism and how special that is to me. It was a little hectic just because the internet service doesnt work very well and we were trying to video call in one of the other sister missionaries. But it all ended up working and our members were so supportive that they made it into a whole dinner occasion with barbeque. Our friend Saul also came and he really enjoyed it.

He is planning on being baptized the 11th and came to church. He is also only 17 and he has been so excited for everything. When we gave him a book of mormon he actually yelled thank you so much and gave a funny little dance. He also reads a chapter every night and does it 2x because he says it helps him remember it better. It has been so amazing having him share how the gospel has already been blessing his life. ¡Muchos milagros!

We also met this lady Melba who is actually so funny! She's a bit older and just says whatever she wants. But she invited us into her home so willingly and her mother was a member and would have missionaries over all the time. This was after Melba was married and her mom has passed away but she already knows a lot about the gospel. We did a bunch of family history work with her and when she came to church to do it it turns out she was there when her mom was baptized. Melba feeds us every time we come over and is a pro chef. So we of course have had some bomb friend meals and been teaching her more and about the BoM. She also does so many random talents and gave us homemade jelly, is sewing, paints, bakes, gardens, has chickens, and tells us endless chisme (gossip) about Alice.

As for some extra extreme efforts on the mission, (that should become an amazing Acronym, the triple E's😉) I made some tortillas and had them judged by an abuelita who doesn't speak a lick of English, baked some cookies and dropped them off to congratulate our buddy Eden for his 1 year member mark. We also met up with the Newell family because they are moving to their permanent ranch this next week in Oregan. She gave us some very country dresses and shirts which was super fun! I whipped out some insane underground family history skills thanks to my mom, and practiced on merging people and cross referencing grave records and Mexico to Texas border crossing info. It's been up to 93 so far this week. And our air conditioning unit has so much humidity that it constantly drips water. We have a 2 gallon bowl that catches it and have to dump it out around 3 times a day. Which means in the past week we have collected over 42 gallons.... just some Texan norms. 😂 Also, so many puppies and kittens this past week! Which is really fun, unless they are covered in fleas or scabs... then its less fun. We also went to a place called Dairy Burger that has a 50% chance of giving people food poisioning. But so far, so good!! We also have been going through our contacts and seeing why they have been even saved on the phone Sim card. Put of 200, only 35 have been known.

Bunch of cool friends! We can't wait to see what holds in store for all of them and right now we have 3 people on date for baptism!

Spiritual Thought: From Jesus the Christ
"Jesus asked of them: “But whom say ye that I am?” Answering for all, but more particularly testifying as to his own conviction, Peter, with all the fervor of his soul, voiced the great confession: “Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.” This was no avowal of mere belief, no expression of a result at which he had arrived by mental process, no solution of a problem laboriously worked out, no verdict based on the weighing of evidence; he spoke in the sure knowledge that knows no question and from which doubt and reservations are as far removed as is the sky from the ground."
