Week 18- Inactive Percentage 93%
Nothing too new here. Just teaching some new people. And we had to drop a couple like the cool Spanish family that we made cookies and tortillas for... we are for sure going to miss them.
Besides that we started this week with heading off to ranch territory to try to reactivate. It didn't work too well because basically nobody answered. Pero, we did see lots of animals and met a bunch of new friends. I also got to see 2 different kids of deer, road runners, turkey vulture, wild pigs, a possum, armadillos, and endless mesquite trees. So, not super eventful and I just felt so empty because there was no scene change.
Besides that, we talked more with our friend Brianna and her little daughter. She is honestly so amazing. We also got to be fed some fish and shrimp by Melba. The hard thing is Martinez hates fish so she's here gagging over this food why we try to talk about the plan of Salvation with her. I felt really bad. Our buddy Saul is so ready for his baptism and we got his mother's support for it. We were a little worried because he is only 17 and we haven't been able to teach her anything but she was so supportive of his decision to be baptized. He did come to the Wednesday activity and we played some basketball with him. We had a little competition and because us hermanas beat him he owed us cookies. Thus my basketball skills can't be that bad because I got my first shot no backboard even used. 😎
Our friend Eden has been super cool with sharing his testimony and giving rides to people. Also, he has gone through so much in his life but he is so strong spiritually that every time we tall with him it's like being on cloud 9. A bunch of new friends came to church on Sunday. Which us super cool and means we can teach more people. We also have transfers this week so I'll keep you posted on what happens. So sorry if I don't answer your emails. I promise I read them all, it just gets hard to respond.
We also managed to come up with a recipe to make cake pops sin eggs so Elder Hobbs can eat them. I feel like a professional chef. I also have made tortillas 4 times now, one of these days I think I'll make the perfect batch. And then probably get home from my mission because it takes years and all the abuelitas chastise my rolling skills on making them even. We also got Chick-fil-A three days in a row... I abstained from eating it one of those days but the hard thing is everybody offers us fast food and the only options are fried chicken, hamburgers, or heavy Mexican food. And nothing has vegetables. So, here's for our homemade salads and greens. I have also been able to study a lot more about the power of prayer and fasting. I know that as we trust more in our Heavenly Father he is able to trust in us more. He wants us to give our whole hearted all into everything and wants to give us blessings. I have seen this as I have been growing on my mission and making it all done for Him. I feel like every time I talk to another I want them to know of their Heavenly Father and I don't want to miss a single person and keep them from having these eternal blessings.
Spiritual Thought: Jesus the Christ by Talmage:
"This was an unequivocal and unambiguous declaration of our Lord’s eternal Godship. By the awful title I AM He had made Himself known to Moses and thereafter was so known in Israel. As already shown, it is the equivalent of “Yahveh,” or “Jahveh” now rendered “Jehovah,” and signifies “The Self-existent One” “The Eternal” “The First and the Last.” Jewish traditionalism forbade the utterance of the sacred Name; yet Jesus claimed it as His own."
