Semana 24- Let's Go Play Hide and Go Seek
We have been teaching a lot of really cool people ans seen lots of milagros. We have also been doing our best to help reactive a bunch of members which has been a little bit of a challenge but we have been seeing quite a few hearts to be softened. We also had a busy week with zone role plays, district council, and interviews. Right now we have 2 people on date for baptism and a couple people came to church!! I have also had to start saying goodbye because with the results from interview with president larreal he said that because I have been in Alice for 3 transfers its time for me to leave. I am definitely going to miss the members and friends that I have met here. I am so grateful to have come here because without all those things there is no way in the world I would have met so many wonderful people. They have definitely helped to strengthen my testimony about people's conversion and how committed you have to be to be a member and stay in the gospel. Us Alice sisters have also been having some mild competitions with the zone and we have one 3 times in a row now! So we have gotten lots of prizes like access to the famous bomber jacket. 😎
District council was the last one for 3 of the elders because they are all finishing their mission so we brought cookies and we all had funky 4th of July glasses. We shotgunned some sodas said our farewells and went out as a district to lunch. It's wild to see missionaries finish up entirely. It seems like the past 5 and a half months have flown by and to know that I only have a little over a year left. Us here in Alice have also realized that after our zone got combined we were not given enough miles so I wrote up a proposal for how much we need and calculated the miles given per each areas miles². Long story short, we got more miles.
I know that there are so many blessings and miracles here in Alice. We have found so many people ready and willing to take that step of faith and be baptized and just other people who we have been able to help increase their faith or simply plant that seed that hopefully blesses their lives fir forever and allows other missionaries to come and help in the future. The other Elders over the years and sisters have helped so much to prepare these people to want to continue learning more. They are ready and have been. When the McAllen Temple was dedicated this October Elder Uchtdorf came and he said that the people here in South Texas are ready and with this temple that work and those people coming to christ will be expedited. We started teaching our friend April from earlier we met two months ago and dropped because she just wouldn't communicate with us who came to church and talks with us and says that on her phone we are labeled as the miracle at the door. Our friends Henri and Renette are preparing to be baptized and they talk about how hopeful they now are even though they haven't for years. We also went looking for an ra with one of our friends who lives somewhere behind her mom's house in this old dirt pile by a drainage. So, we went looking for our friend and played hid and seek after walking around and yelling after her. It turns out that she was at the store but it was funny just hiking around looking for our friend. Like playing the ultimate hide-n-seek but with the ability to bless people's lives forever. The boucher family also fed us on Father's Sunday and we went with them and fed their cows. Saying goodbye though, it was simply strange to think that there are hundreds of people that I may never see again. We also had to move apartments on Thursday which was super chaotic but we got it down. Just more 100 plus weather and our dreaded stairs but it all worked out and we got into the old elders apartment. Which is smaller, but newer. I'll let you know with what all happens with transfers, have a great summer everybody and give your fathers a hug and tell them that you love them.
Pensamiento Espiritual: God's intent to Bring you Home by Patrick Kearon:
"... our Father’s beautiful plan, even His “fabulous” plan, is designed to bring you home, not to keep you out. No one has built a roadblock and stationed someone there to turn you around and send you away. In fact, it is the exact opposite. God is in relentless pursuit of you. He “wants all of His children to choose to return to Him,” and He employs every possible measure to bring you back."
