Semana 8- Por que el gato cruzo la calle?

Most people have dogs and cat, right? The only thing is, most people own these animals, they have houses and places to stay, and are taken care of. They're not just there. Alice doesn't take this normal approach. Instead, everybody owns at least 2 dogs and feeds all of the stray cats. None of these animals have houses per se and thus roam the streets. Meaning that our mission has one of the highest dog bite percentages and tons of rabies. As of yet, I haven't been attacked, only chased or barked at. I do want to see some of the more exotic animals. Which means that I should eventually see monkeys, armadillos, and tarantulas.

Thus week has been very busy and very exciting!! We have had three zone activities. Including one combined with the closest zone. We were able to go to the coast and see President Larreal which was super cool! His new English phrase of the day is "Pass it down" as he tries to learn a new language. He is really cool and we were able to have a great lesson and learn more about extreme efforts to encourage and talk to people. Our zone has been working harder on trying to extend baptismal invitations because we have a goal to baptize 13 people in March. So for, we are on track for 7! Food has been great this past week! I've had a little bit of everything from Chick-fil-A, fettuccine Alfredo, the best authentic Mexican street tacos, a strawberry tres leches cake, authentic persian rice (from and Iranian), and these delicious Mexican cookies called pan de polvo. Also a cute couple serenaded us with guitar music and mariachi music while feeding us these aforementioned cookies.

My companion and I have been working hard to try to find new people and teach them. Right now we have to people on date to get baptized in March and it is so exciting!! I love being able to feel the spirit and then see how excited these people get when they hear about the gospel. They seem so happy and light. I can't wait to see these people take the next steps as they continue learning and growing closer to Christ. The little branch I am in has inspiring people. They come from all walks of life with different experiences but each of them are willing to drop what they have to feed us missionaries, or help fellowship a new person, or just bear their testimonies to our friends.

I have really enjoyed learning more about the gospel and learning Spanish. We have 2 days a week were we speak only Spanish and we also talk to a lot of people who speak only spanish. There are quite a few people here though who don't know Spanish at all! It has been nice to be able to get down teaching to people in a language that I feel comfortable and confident in. That way, I at least know what I am saying makes sense.

On March 24 we are planning as a stake to go to the Temple. I cannot wait to go because I know how important and special temples are. The feeling inside them is spiritual and comforting! I am grateful that I have an eternal family and that my parents were willing to get married and sealed in a temple so that I can be with them forever! I'm also excited to go down to McAllen, because apparently down by the border orange trees grown wildly and people can just pick them and eat them!

Scripture - Alma 29:9 - "I know that which the Lord has commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord has commanded me: yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.
