Semana 13- Abandoned by my mom and I almost killed my step-mom

Just so I can hopefully clear up any confusion, some missionary lingo includes that our trainer is called "mom," our first area is "where we are born," and new missionaries for the first 12 weeks in the field are called "greenies". This means that if we get a new trainer in the midst of our 12 weeks being trained out in the field they become our "step-mom".

I know I have only been in Alice for 1 transfer but President Larreal decided to change it all up. My 'mom' was ditched me for the valley by the border, and the Elders were white-washed out. Which means that I was the only remaining missionary in the district and I have to lead the area. Please wish me luck. It really was sad to say goodbye to Hermana Church. She is amazing! And white-washes are not that common so when we got our transfer information we were kind of in shock. It will be good though. For Sister Church's final time in Alice we actually made it to Freer, Texas and we were fed some delectable Enchiladas. We also went out and did some service for one of the rancher families and got to help castrate their calves and cut down a fence full of nettles. Then on Thursday we woke up bright and early, loaded up the car, and drove out. Which means I got to finally walk the grounds of the temple again!! And see a billion other missionaries because the northern missionaries are way more secluded and kind of get cut off from activities and events becuase of distance. I got to meet my new companion Hemana Martinez. And guess what? She happens to be from the same city as I do, Nampa, ID. The only thing is that she is from the city end so I have never had the opportunity to meet her and we don't have any mutual friends. But, she is super cool!!

The two Elders we got are also a trainee and trainer combo. Which means we got a new "greenie". Because the new missionaries come on Saturdays and the transfers happen on Thursday, us Hermanas had 3 days where we had to bike. The car was stuck 2 hours down south and we had to be dropped off by the other missionaries on their way their areas. I actually really enjoy biking on a mission. It is super fun and helps us to talk with tons more people. The only problem is that our area is like a donut with the elders as the donut hole. We live in that hole but have to drive out to get to our area. So, it takes us a 15 minute bike to even get on our first street in Alice, let alone the other cities in our area. Which means, lots of biking. And my companion hasn't biked yet on her mission. And she actually hates it. So I felt awful having to make her bike everywhere back and forth for hours. I thought that we might not even make it back to the apartment because it was super windy and she was exhausted and had to guzzle sooo much water. Good thing I brought like 3 water bottles. But I was so worried that I would kill my 'step-mom'. We also had to go out and bike to a members house for dinner and it took us 30 minutes and one creek crossing just to pick up the food and then turn around and bike to find a park to eat at. Pero, ¡sobrevivimos!

Easter or Pascua was actually so much fun!! We got to have the entire church service focused on Christ including the music! We also were fed by this amazing family that had an Easter egg hunt and scavenger hunt, and a some activities about Christ and His resurrection. And the end of the day we had a whole missionary broadcast about Christ and with fun little videos of each zones testimonies about the Savior. I know that la Pascua is such a crucial time in our life. We have been told by the Apostles and the Prophet to treat Easter as a holiday more focused on Christ's resurrection and make it as big and special as Christmas. I know that this is crucial and we will receive blessings as we focus more each day on Him and the blessings we can recieve becuase of Him.

I can't wait for General Conference! Please come with any questions you have! I know that I will!

Escritura: Jeremiah 18:4-6
"And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying, O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel."
