La Verdad Semana 7- Gas?

Do you want to know the second saddest day of my entire mission life? Besides when I go home after a year and a half? It's at the end of MTC when all of your companions and district leave you. It's even sadder when you are the ultimate last one. Alone. Having to find a fake companion just so you have somewhere to sleep. No one to talk to. 9 empty desks. Quiet meals. Silent walks back from classes.

My two companions went to their campos on Thursday morning (as in like 4 am) leaving me to go to ALL the classes with only me, the teachers, and one other Elder. (A little shout out to him so I wasn't completely alone). Friday morning I flew out to the great land known as the valley of Texas. I showed up in McAllen to one of the most humid places ever. My hair has never been frizzier. On Saturday I was appointed my trainer. Sister Church who is honestly awesome. The only problem is my area is an English one in a place called Alice 2 hours away. (Still kinda wish it was a full Spanish area but I did have a lesson in Spanish earlier.)

We drove on up North here but on the way we were accosted with disaster. 3 ingredients came into play. 1.) New car after a new transfer. 2.) Lack of nearby gas stations. 3.) My companion just finished her own 12 weeks of training and just started driving for the mission 2 days previous. The end result: one car out of gas in the emergency turn lane. The real miracle was that across the other direction of freeway was a gas station. Did we manage to fill up our car and drive safely without a single phone call? Yes. Did we have to do some gerryrigging to make the car work? Also yes. Did it involve an illegal milk jug? Yes.

It's been great being out in the field. I love my area and my companion. It kinda feels weird here because it's flat, humid, and a combination of Mexico, Texas, and California. We have a cute tiny branch and are teaching a variety of people.

I know that miracles are real. I have felt the love of my Heavenly Father and have seen His work already in my life. Seeing other people, especially the new converts and church is inspiring because i see how it blesses all of their lives. I'm disappointed to be called to speak Spanish and sent to one of only a couple English areas but I know that I will be able to touch these people's lives through Christ and the Gospel.
